Patient Information
Everything you need to prepare for your child’s visit.

Pediatric Dentistry??
What’s that….
Pediatric Dentist specializes in the delivery of comprehensive dental care to infants, children, adolescents, and individuals with specialized health care needs. It is the job of a pediatric dentist to assess and diagnose the dental conditions of your child.
An experienced pediatric dentist will propose the best course of action that best suits the individual needs of your child. This further ensures that the treatment recommendations appreciate your child’s emotional and developmental stage.

My First Visit
We are excited to meet you and your child. Give Me A Smile team aims to create a fun-filled and exciting atmosphere geared to keep your child comfortable, engaged and relaxed during every visit.
The first dental visit is education and helps to establish a Dental Home – or home base – for your child’s dental needs. We are counting teeth, taking pictures, and signing names….

When should I bring them to their first dental visit?
In accordance with the guidelines of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the first visit should be when their first tooth comes in or no later than 1YO. But if you have an older child – it is never too late to take care of little teeth!
What should I tell my child?
KISS: Keep It Simple & Silly.
Let your child know that prior to doing anything that the dentist and staff will demonstrate and explain everything, in addition to answering any questions that they may have. We’re kind of the best at answering the silliest questions.
What’s safe to say….
Well, you are going to Give Me A Smile, so be prepared to take “pictures”; in other words, take x-rays of their teeth.
When discussing the upcoming visit with your child, we ask that you refrain from using terms with negative connotations, such as “shot”, “hurt”, “stick”, “needle”, “drill” or “pull”. We have a more positive child friendly way of describing dentistry that is both effective and age appropriate. In other words, we have our lingo down to a science.
Schedule Your Child’s Visit with Confidence
Whether you’re preparing for your child’s first appointment or continuing their dental care, our team is here to make the process simple and stress-free. We’re happy to answer your questions, review your insurance, and help you get started.
